Rickenbacker Electro Model B Lap Steel 1937 - 1945
The Rickenbacker Model B lap steels from 1937 introduced a second control knob, which moved from the bass side to the treble side some time in 1939. Other minor cosmetic differences came year-to-year, such as an occasional plastic control plate, the exact type of knobs used, and white outlines on the frets. These were also the first Model B instruments to have different colors for the decorative plates on the face of the body, with black plates being the rarest. - 18
Rickenbacker Electro Model B Lap Steel 1946 - 1955
The Rickenbacker Model B went through a few "post-war" changes in the mid-1940s, with a metal insert appearing in the neck, the width of the pickup magnet going from 1 1/2" to 1 1/4", as well as the pickup adjustable with Phillips head screws. The "T-Shape" logo on the headstock is also introduced here in 1946 but is gone by 1950. - 19
