Custom 24 DNA – With Another Dimension

The Custom 24 has been part of the PRS story since the beginning, but this version takes that familiar platform somewhere different.

A maple top with flame maple veneer sits over a mahogany back, while the semi-hollow construction and single F-hole introduce additional resonance and an open quality to the instrument's response.

You still get the familiar 25" PRS scale length, 24 frets and Wide Thin neck profile, so the guitar feels immediately recognizable to players who already know the Custom 24.

But the semi-hollow construction gives it a personality of its own.

There's a lively quality you can feel through the instrument, particularly on clean and lightly driven sounds, while the solidbody-inspired Custom 24 foundation keeps the response focused and familiar.

Vintage Sunburst

Vintage Sunburst is an especially good match for this guitar.

The warm center and darker outer burst highlight the flame maple veneer while giving the single F-hole and carved PRS body shape a more traditional semi-hollow appearance.

That contrast is part of what makes this particular guitar so appealing.

Visually, it has some of the elegance associated with a classic semi-hollow instrument.

Underneath, however, you have a 24-fret Wide Thin PRS with tremolo, dual humbuckers, coil-tapping and piezo electronics.

85/15 “S” Humbuckers

The electric side of the guitar starts with PRS 85/15 “S” Treble and Bass humbuckers.

These pickups are designed for clarity and an extended frequency response, making them a great match for a guitar with this much natural resonance.

A 3-way blade switch gives you the three primary magnetic pickup combinations:

• Bridge Humbucker
• Bridge + Neck Humbuckers
• Neck Humbucker

Then pull the tone control to coil-tap the magnetic pickups, introducing leaner, brighter sounds that further expand the guitar's electric palette.

So before you even touch the piezo system, you already have a remarkably flexible electric guitar.

LR Baggs/PRS Piezo – A Completely Different Voice

The piezo system is where the SE Custom 24 Semi-Hollow Piezo becomes something much more unusual.

Integrated into the PRS Patented Piezo Tremolo, the LR Baggs/PRS system captures the strings at the bridge and provides an acoustic-style voice fundamentally different from the 85/15 “S” magnetic pickups.

Separate Magnetic Volume and Piezo Volume controls allow you to determine exactly how the two systems interact.

Use only the magnetic pickups for your conventional electric sounds.

Bring in the piezo when you want acoustic-style character.

Or blend the two together.

A small amount of piezo blended underneath a clean magnetic tone can add attack and dimension. Move further toward the piezo and the personality of the guitar changes dramatically.

That's useful versatility rather than simply another switch or pickup combination.

Two Outputs – Two Complete Signal Paths

The dual-output system makes this guitar particularly powerful for live performance and recording.

Using the Mix/Piezo output, you can combine the magnetic pickups and piezo system through one signal path and control their balance directly from the guitar.

Or use both outputs simultaneously.

Send the 85/15 “S” magnetic pickups to your electric guitar amp, pedalboard or modeler.

Send the piezo signal separately to an acoustic amplifier, DI, PA system or dedicated recording channel.

That means one guitar can feed two entirely different rigs at the same time.

There's also a smart failsafe built into the system: when using the magnetic output by itself, the piezo battery is bypassed. Your magnetic pickups continue working even if the piezo battery is depleted.

For the gigging musician, that's an important detail.

A Piezo System with a Tremolo

Here's another feature that separates this model from many piezo-equipped guitars.

You still get a PRS tremolo.

The PRS Patented Piezo Tremolo incorporates the piezo system without forcing the player to give up the expressive possibilities of a tremolo bridge.

That makes the SE Custom 24 Semi-Hollow Piezo particularly interesting for someone who wants acoustic-style sounds but doesn't want to move to a fixed-bridge hollowbody platform to get them.

It's still very much a Custom 24 at heart.

Wide Thin Neck – 24 Frets

PRS pairs this model with its popular Wide Thin neck profile.

The set maple neck, 25" scale length and 10" radius rosewood fretboard create a fast, comfortable playing platform with access to all 24 frets.
