Taylor 352ce Grand Concert 12-String Acoustic/Electric Guitar! Guitar Comes with a Taylor Hardshell Case!
A Different Approach to the 12-StringMost players know exactly what they expect when they pick up a traditional 12-string acoustic: a large body, substantial string tension and a huge wash of octave-rich sound.
The Taylor 352ce takes a very different approach.
Taylor combines a compact Grand Concert body, 12-fret neck, shortened 24-7/8" scale length and V-Class bracing specifically voiced for a 12-string to create an instrument that's remarkably comfortable, controlled and musical.
Then Taylor adds another fascinating detail.
On the three bass courses—E, A and D—the string order is reversed so the octave string sits above the fundamental string. This changes how the pick encounters the paired strings and helps bring the octave character forward, contributing to the distinctive shimmer and definition of Taylor's 12-string voice.
At Northeast Music Center, we think that's what makes the 352ce so compelling.
It gives you the unmistakable sound of a 12-string without requiring you to wrestle with a traditional oversized 12-string guitar.

THE 12-STRING SOUND — WITHOUT THE OVERSIZED GUITAR
Historically, many acoustic 12-strings have been built around larger body shapes.
There's a reason for that: twelve strings can generate an enormous amount of acoustic energy.
Taylor recognized that bigger isn't necessarily better for every player.
The Grand Concert is the smallest of Taylor's full-size body shapes, giving the 352ce a more intimate and physically manageable feel.
The smaller sound chamber also helps control the tremendous harmonic content produced by twelve strings.
Instead of an enormous wall of sound, the 352ce can produce a more focused, articulate and defined 12-string voice.
That's especially useful in a recording environment, where a large 12-string can quickly occupy too much sonic space.
The 352ce gives you texture without overwhelming everything around it.
TAYLOR'S REVERSED BASS-COURSE STRINGING
Here's one of the most interesting details about the 352ce—and something many players don't realize until they look closely at the strings.
On the E, A and D bass courses, Taylor reverses the conventional relationship between the fundamental and octave strings.
That means the pick can encounter the higher octave string first during a typical downward stroke.
The result helps emphasize the octave component of the lower courses and contributes to the brilliant, chiming personality associated with Taylor's modern 12-string design.
It's a small construction detail with a very audible purpose.
And it's one of the features that makes the 352ce feel like Taylor's interpretation of the 12-string rather than simply a conventional 12-string with a Taylor name on the headstock.
THE 12-FRET DIFFERENCE
The 352ce also uses a 12-fret neck configuration, placing the neck-to-body joint at the 12th fret rather than the more conventional 14th fret.
That changes more than appearance.
It shifts the relationship between the neck, bridge and body and gives the guitar a more intimate playing feel.
Combined with the compact Grand Concert body, it allows the instrument to sit naturally against the player.
For musicians accustomed to fighting larger 12-string guitars, the difference can be substantial.
24-7/8" SHORT SCALE — ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT ON A 12-STRING
The shortened 24-7/8" scale length is another important part of the 352ce formula.
A shorter scale generally produces a slightly more relaxed string feel than a longer scale using an equivalent string set and tuning.
That's useful on any acoustic.
On a guitar with twelve strings, it's especially welcome.
Chords require less of a fight.
Longer playing sessions become more comfortable.
And the entire instrument feels more approachable.
Put the short scale together with the 12-fret neck and Grand Concert body, and you begin to understand why the 352ce feels so different from the stereotypical acoustic 12-string.
SOLID SITKA SPRUCE + SOLID SAPELE
Taylor pairs a solid Sitka spruce soundboard with solid sapele back and sides.
Sitka spruce is an excellent choice for this application because of its combination of dynamic range, strength and articulation.
That's important when twelve strings are generating a tremendous amount of harmonic information simultaneously.
Sapele complements the spruce with a balanced response and clear midrange character. Compared with darker, warmer tonewood combinations, this pairing helps preserve the crisp definition that allows individual notes and octave courses to remain intelligible.
The result is a 12-string voice with shimmer and complexity without becoming excessively cloudy.
V-CLASS — VOICED FOR TWELVE STRINGS
Taylor equips the 352ce with V-Class bracing specifically designed for its 12-string architecture.
The system helps the soundboard balance flexibility and structural support while contributing to sustain, projection and harmonic agreement across the fingerboard.
Those qualities become particularly meaningful on a 12-string.
With six pairs of strings sounding simultaneously, even small pitch relationships become much more noticeable.
When everything works together, the sound isn't simply bigger.
It becomes more coherent.
Chords bloom.
Octaves shimmer.
Single-note passages retain definition
And sustained notes develop the rich harmonic texture that makes a great 12-string unmistakable.
A SECRET WEAPON IN THE STUDIO
The 352ce may be one of the more useful 12-string designs for recording.
Because the Grand Concert body naturally keeps some of the excessive overtones under control, the guitar can add a layer of 12-string shimmer without consuming the entire mix.
Double a six-string acoustic part.
Add texture underneath a chorus.
Use it for arpeggiated passages.
Place it behind an electric guitar.
Or let it become the defining sound of the arrangement.
A great 12-string doesn't always need to dominate the song.
Sometimes its greatest contribution is the dimension you notice when it's taken away.
TAYLOR EXPRESSION SYSTEM 2
Taylor's Expression System 2 makes the 352ce ready for amplified performance.
The behind-the-saddle pickup design captures the guitar's dynamic response and allows the complex character of the paired strings to translate into a live environment.
For performers who want 12-string texture without carrying a large-bodied acoustic onto the stage, the 352ce becomes an especially attractive option.

WHY THE 352ce MATTER
The 352ce challenges the idea that a serious 12-string needs to be large, physically demanding or sonically overwhelming.
Taylor went in the opposite direction.
Make the body smaller.
Move to a 12-fret configuration.
Shorten the scale.
Control the harmonic response.
Voice the bracing specifically for twelve strings.
And rethink even the order of the octave strings on the bass courses.
The result is not simply a smaller 12-string.
It's a different philosophy of what a 12-string acoustic can be.
For the songwriter who wants another texture, the studio musician who needs definition, the fingerstyle player looking for octave richness or the guitarist who has always loved 12-strings but disliked their traditional size and feel, the 352ce deserves serious consideration.
THE NORTHEAST MUSIC CENTER PERSPECTIVE
At Northeast Music Center, we particularly enjoy guitars that solve a musical problem rather than simply adding another model to a manufacturer's lineup.
The Taylor 352ce does exactly that.
Traditional 12-strings can sound spectacular—but their larger bodies, longer scales and substantial string tension aren't ideal for every player.
The 352ce gives musicians another choice.
Its compact Grand Concert body is comfortable.
Its 12-fret architecture feels intimate.
Its shorter scale makes twelve strings more manageable.
And its focused voice gives the instrument a legitimate role both onstage and in the studio.
That's why Northeast Music Center is proud to keep distinctive Taylor models like the 352ce represented in our inventory whenever possible.
As an authorized Taylor dealer and repair center, Northeast Music Center can also assist with setup, adjustment, restringing and ongoing service—particularly valuable with an instrument as specialized as a 12-string.
If you've always wanted the unmistakable shimmer of twelve strings but never connected with the size or feel of a traditional 12-string acoustic, come experience the 352ce at Northeast Music Center.
It may completely change what you expect a 12-string to feel like.
