Koa is denser and less immediately resonant than spruce, and C-Class bracing is built to compensate, pushing projection and midrange forward instead of letting an all-koa build sound closed-in out of the case.

A solid koa top opens up the more it gets played, moving from a tighter, more compressed voice when new toward a warmer, more complex midrange over time — a known trait of koa that spruce-topped guitars don't share.
