Unleash Modern Psychedelic Magic and Ambient Texture

The Guitar Sanctuary is proud to feature the EarthQuaker Devices Rainbow Machine V2 Polyphonic Pitch Mesmerizer. Far more than a mere novelty, the Rainbow Machine is a highly sophisticated, 100% digital pitch-shifting modulator designed for adventurous tone chasers. From lush, vintage-style polyphonic chorusing and shimmering slapback delays to wild, self-oscillating pitch cascades, this pedal serves as a powerhouse of expressive potential on any pedalboard.

The updated V2 edition improves upon EarthQuaker's classic design by incorporating silent, relay-based Flexi-Switch® technology on both the Activate and Magic footswitches. This allows for seamless, momentary latching or standard on/off operation, making it easier than ever to inject sudden bursts of pitch-shifting chaos into your solos or transitions. Combined with an optimized lower-noise signal path and a hotter output signal, the V2 ensures your ambient experiments always retain maximum signal integrity.

Sanctuary Expert Tone Profile: Dreamy, ambient, and wonderfully chaotic. While it can produce extreme pitch-climbing self-oscillation, it excels at providing an organic, wide-stereo chorus effect that adds lush, shimmering dimension to clean rhythm passages.

The Trey Anastasio Connection: From Subtle Lushness to Rocket Launches

Famously championed by Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio, the Rainbow Machine has become a cornerstone of modern jam-band and psychedelic rigs. Trey utilizes the pedal in two distinct ways:

• The Ambient Thickener: By keeping the "Magic" switch disengaged and setting the Pitch control slightly off-center, the pedal creates an ultra-lush, wide, detuned doubling effect that rivals the finest vintage analog choruses.
• The Launchpad: Engaging the secondary "Magic" control creates a cascading feedback loop where the pitch-shifted signal continuously regenerates. This allows you to conjure soaring, polyphonic pitch climbs that ascend into gorgeous self-oscillation before instantly cutting back to your dry signal.

Flexi-Switch® Technology
This device features Flexi-Switch® Technology! This relay-based, true bypass switching style allows you to simultaneously use momentary and latching style switching.

• For standard latching operation, tap the footswitch once to activate the effect and then tap again to bypass.

• For momentary operation, hold the footswitch down for as long as you’d like to use the effect. Once you release the switch the effect will be bypassed.

Since the switching is relay based, it requires power to pass signal.

Power : This device takes a standard 9 volt DC power supply with a 2.1mm negative center barrel. We always recommend pedal-specific, transformer-isolated wall-wart power supplies or multiple isolated-output supplies. Pedals will make extra noise if there is ripple or unclean power. Switching-type power supplies, daisy chains and non-pedal specific power supplies do not filter dirty power as well and let through unwanted noise. DO NOT RUN AT HIGHER VOLTAGES!
