The 2026 Model Martin D-13E Retro Walnut is built for players who want power, clarity, and classic Martin character in a true Dreadnought. With its large body and strong projection, this model is designed to fill a room with sound while staying balanced and musical. A solid spruce top delivers crisp articulation and wide dynamic range, while solid black walnut back and sides add warmth, sustain, and a focused low end. Often called “Pennsylvania rosewood,” walnut offers the depth and complexity of rosewood with a slightly drier, more controlled response. Scalloped X-bracing keeps the top lively, giving the guitar volume and responsiveness that reward both heavy strumming and more dynamic playing.

From a player’s perspective, this is a working Dreadnought that feels familiar and dependable the moment it is in hand. The Performing Artist neck with high-performance taper provides smooth, modern playability without losing the traditional Martin feel. The long 25.4 inch scale length adds clarity and snap, helping notes stay defined even under aggressive attack. Style 28-inspired dot inlays, a faux tortoise pickguard, and vintage-style open gear tuners with butterbean knobs connect the look directly to Martin heritage, while the gloss finish gives the guitar a polished, stage-ready presence.

Outfitted with Martin E1 electronics and a built-in tuner, the D-13E Retro Walnut is ready for performance, rehearsal, and recording straight out of the case. Its bold voice, strong bass, and clear highs make it a natural fit for singer-songwriters, rhythm players, and anyone who needs a Dreadnought that carries authority without losing balance. For players searching for a spruce and walnut acoustic guitar that blends classic tone with modern reliability, the D-13E Retro Walnut delivers a sound that is powerful, musical, and unmistakably Martin.
