Handmade for CBS Masterworks

Vintage handmade Japanese Kazuo Yairi YWG-1040 classical guitar built exclusively for CBS Masterworks. This is a very well-made vintage nylon string guitar with an ebony fingerboard, solid cedar top, and what appears to be a solid cedar back with mahogany sides. The guitar has a large original-style clear pickguard and retains a very classy vintage appearance overall.

This guitar is in very good overall condition and sounds excellent. It plays great over the entire fingerboard without issue. The bridge appears to have been reglued at some point in its life, but it is completely solid with no concerns. There are no neck, neck joint, or structural issues to note. There are also two holes on the lower bout side of the guitar that appear to have once housed pickup jacks from a previous setup.

As expected of a played guitar from the 1970s, you will find average cosmetic flaws consistent with age and use. These may consist of minor scratches, marks, dings, finish wear, and other signs of normal vintage use. Nothing appears abusive or structurally concerning.

The saddle still has enough height remaining to easily fine tune the action to your personal preference if desired. Although I feel the guitar is set up great and plays beautifully, everyone has their own personal preferences. Any setup changes, adjustments, or string changes desired would be the responsibility and cost of the buyer.
