A Legacy of Tone, Reborn

Here’s the lowdown—the Taylor 810e isn’t just a guitar; it’s a cornerstone of American acoustic tone. This Legacy Special Edition is a tribute to Bob Taylor’s original, foundational dreadnought designs, blending that iconic heritage with modern refinements. It’s a cannon of a guitar, built for the player who demands power, nuance, and a voice that’s both classic and articulate. The Heritage Burst finish isn’t just for looks—it’s a nod to the timeless instruments that have shaped music for decades.

The Cannon: Rosewood & Torrefied Spruce

It all starts with the tonewoods. The solid Indian Rosewood back and sides deliver that sonic signature you’re after—deep, powerful bass, harmonically rich mids, and a glassy top end that cuts. Paired with a torrefied Sitka Spruce top, the guitar gains a played-in, responsive character right out of the case. This process ages the wood, giving it incredible dynamic range and a clear, open voice. Driven by Taylor’s classic X-bracing, this dreadnought has room-filling projection and sustain that blooms with every note.

Plug In, Sound Natural

Onstage or in the studio, the onboard electronics ensure the 810e’s natural acoustic voice translates perfectly. This system is designed to capture the dynamic character of the guitar—the warmth of the tonewoods and the subtle nuances of your playing style—without coloring the sound. It’s the kind of transparent, organic tone that makes you forget you’re even plugged in.

Feel & Finesse

The slightly shorter 24-7/8″ scale length is a game-changer. It reduces string tension just enough to give you a slinkier, buttery playing feel, making bends and complex chord voicings feel effortless. The Tropical Mahogany neck has that comfortable, familiar Taylor profile that feels like an old friend, while the West African Crelicam Ebony fingerboard—adorned with intricate Element inlays—provides a smooth, slick surface for your fingers to fly.

- Our sales staff are all musicians! What’s more important than communication? We speak your language. Whether you’re a beginner or a professional player, we’ve been in your shoes. A lot of aspects of the guitar are intangible, and a non-player just can’t understand. It’s a guitar thing. But we can talk about tone and feel in the same language you use. We know what it means to love an instrument, and we want to help you find your new love.
