Used pair of Gotoh (Goto) PAF clone open type humbucker, with double black bobbins and double gold hex screw poles. Made in Japan MIJ.

I bought these pickup from Japan, not in a guitar, so I can't say what guitar it was removed from, it could have been aftermarket, but this era of Gotoh pickups were often used by Tokai, Burny, Fresher, and probably many other Japanese guitar manufacturers in the late 70's and early 80's.

Given that they have gold pole pieces, I suspect that came out of a Tokai LC Les Paul Custom.

They are in overall good shape, one of the pickups has much hevaier wear on the bobbins from strings rubbing on it. The pole pieces have some rust/tarnish on them.

Based on the "Patent Applied For | made by goto" ink stamp on the baseplate, this is the earliest version of Gotoh humbuckers, before the "GOTOH" stamped baseplate style from the early 80's and the later 90's style stamped baseplate.

The magnets used are the thick (tall) ceramic magnets.

There is what appears to be an obvious neck pickup and a bridge pickup, based on the lead length - about 13" long for the neck, and 8.5" long for the bridge - but they have similar DC resistance and pole spacing.

The neck pickup DC resistance measures 7.83K ohm.

The bridge pickup DC resistance measures 7.78K ohm.

Both pickups have a pole spacing of 47mm.

They don't look like they ever had a covers installed (although this era of Gotoh's didn't have the covers soldered on sometimes).

Comes with 3 gold screws and springs (one went missing along the way somewhere).

If you're looking for a pair of a vintage Japanese made humbucker to your guitar, grab this today.
