JHS The Clover – Preamp/Boost Pedal for Electric, Acoustic & Bass Guitar – New

In 1984, BOSS released the now-legendary FA-1 FET Preamp as part of their rare “Pocket Series.” It quickly rose to fame thanks to The Edge of U2, who famously used it on The Unforgettable Fire and beyond. The JHS Clover is a refined, modern reimagining of that iconic circuit — now enhanced with expanded EQ control, versatile routing options, and thoughtful additions that make it indispensable for electric, acoustic, and bass players alike.

Whether you're pushing a tube amp into natural overdrive, adding sparkle to a clean chain, or shaping your tone before it hits the board, the Clover delivers flexible, musical results across any style or instrument.

Controls & Tone Shaping

The Clover offers four front-panel controls and a 3-way EQ mode switch:

• Volume: Set unity gain or crank it for up to +24dB of clean boost.
• 3-Band EQ: Independently cut or boost Bass (270Hz), Mid (1.3kHz), and Treble (10kHz) with ±15dB of range.
• Rotary EQ Mode Selector:
• • Full EQ – Activates all three EQ bands for total tone control.
  • No Mid – Bypasses mid control for an authentic FA-1 style response.
  • No EQ – Bypasses EQ entirely for pure, uncolored FET boost.

On the right side, a Low Cut DIP switch lets you roll off excess low end (3dB point at 212Hz), perfect for tightening up your sound or cutting through a dense mix.
