Own one of Leo Fender's last designs--a celebrated craftsman of the first hour.

Here's the deal. I have two G&L L5000 basses with the very rare "sickle" headstock and they don't get equal play time. So, it's best that the black one goes to a good home. This baby was born in December 1988 and man does it growl. Have space for it in your guitar den?

The previous owner defretted the neck and I had them professionally and painstakingly filled by a local, certified luthier using heart wood--it'll age beautifully over time. That's right...a fretless L5000...possibly the only one in existence after looking through multiple site searches.

Did I say bass can certainly growl? Just watch the video.

My price is fair considering that you can buy just an L5000 neck on here for roughly $900 and that alone cannot make sweet, sweet bass music.

The bass is in great condition for the age--only three nicks where you rest your arm. The rest is normal wear for an at-home instrument; not a gigged axe. Great for a collectible, vintage piece. It's a solid design and the black on black look is pretty darn hip.

Oh yeah...I'll throw in a hard shell case to make sure it arrives safely.
