I never thought I’d sell this rare, amazing, stunningly crafted waveshaper module that creates some of the wildest harmonics out there - great for additive “west-coast” synthesis. Only ~200 units were made and it was/is widely known to be a module to keep, for so many reasons. Yet here I am selling it… I recently learned that newborn babies are expensive.

Pittsburgh Modular Flamingo is a genuinely unique analog waveshaper from Pittsburgh Modular's experimental Safari series - the Pittsburgh Modular Flamingo is a 100% analog waveshaper rich with strange and different harmonics that your regular boring waveshaper will never be able to produce. This is part of the small-batch Safari series with various other modules all being capped around ~200 units each, then never producing more, even if you ask them nicely lol. This one sold out immediately - I’m lucky to have been able to use it, but it’s time for someone else to get gnarly harmonics with gorgeous panel art.

As part of the Safari Series, it’s highly sought after among modular fans - due to Its one-of-a-kind, harmonically rich waveshaper which is delightfully different - strange in the best way - and offers a truly unique sound you won’t find anywhere else. Pittsburgh Modular has moved on from this series and Flamingo has never been back in production - this is a hard-to-find, collector-grade module, basically in mint condition.

My speculation on why they made and released this module:

The Safari series is basically used to test their ”out-their” modules, that typically lean to the more experimental side of things. They get real-user feedback from the community of people who know what they’re talking about and what they want in a module/synth and well, are nerdy (including myself).

They likely used the Flamingo waveshaper module to get real community feedback about integrating it’s waveshaping abilities with the oscillators used in the Voltage Research Lab v2.
