Aside from some veneer imperfections, this 388 is a very clean example of a very versatile machine. Whether you're printing directly to tape, or you're using the included inserts to get that sweet sweet Tascam preamp tone, this machine is here for it. It's meant to be a workhorse, and all these years later it's still kickin'.
This unit was recently serviced by our in house technicians, and their notes are as follows:
Replaced ch 4 fader slider.
cleaned all knobs, pots, front panel
replaced ch 8 VU bulb
replaced caps on reel servo board
adjusted tension. cleaned tape path and aligned azimuth
cleaned and readjusted slider on even pgm fader
cleaned and lubricated rollers
