The BB Series is the flagship electric bass model from YAMAHA, a major brand that Japan proudly presents to the world.

Thanks to the brand’s unique design and its exceptionally rich PJ sound, it has long been cherished by musicians worldwide.

The BB Series enjoys such popularity that it’s practically synonymous with “PJ” these days—it’s no exaggeration to say it has become the very epitome of the PJ bass.

This model is authentically made in Japan, and its quality is second to none.

While it features the classic alder body, Yamaha doesn’t stop at simply using alder.

By laminating maple between layers of alder to create a three-ply construction, it achieves a richer midrange and faster response.

It undergoes the brand’s proprietary I.R.A. (Initial Response Acceleration) treatment, which, after assembly, applies precise vibrations to the instrument to achieve a tone that sounds as if it’s been played for years—even though it’s brand new.

This creates a more cohesive tone throughout the entire instrument, resulting in a sound with even greater depth and character.

In addition, Yamaha’s proprietary technologies are incorporated in various parts of the instrument,

including four screws that secure the neck vertically from the back of the body, as well as “Miter Bolting”—a system that secures the neck end at a 45-degree angle from the back of the body, firmly bonding the body and neck to produce a more powerful resonance.

You can also sense Yamaha’s signature attention to detail in features such as the system that routes the strings through the back of the body at a 45-degree angle—rather than vertically—to ensure that string vibrations are transmitted fully throughout the entire instrument.

The PJ-layout pickups, emblematic of the BB series, feature original pickups with Alnico V magnets known for their powerful magnetism, delivering a PJ sound characterized by a thick core and rich mids.

Of course, they demonstrate their true value not only in the mixed signal but also when used individually.

The fact that it can be played with such a wide range of tonal characters is proof of its quality as an instrument.

It is packed to the brim with the meticulous craftsmanship typical of Japanese-made instruments and intricate structural details refined through trial and error.

The BB series has captivated countless musicians. It is a model sought after by many, both in Japan and abroad.

Don’t miss out.
