In 2013, Mateus Asato, a name now synonymous with extraordinary guitar playing, received his first Suhr Classic Antique. This marked the beginning of a remarkable journey, as Asato would go on to inspire countless guitar enthusiasts worldwide with his unique style and impeccable technique. His collaborations with artists such as Tori Kelly and Jesse J have further cemented his status as one of the most in-demand guitarists of our time. To honour his artistry, Suhr has introduced the Mateus Asato Classic S Signature guitar, a testament to their collaborative vision and commitment to excellence.

Exquisite Craftsmanship

The body, carved from Alder, boasts a sleek and glossy finish, exuding a sense of elegance. The body shape, reminiscent of the Classic S model, ensures a familiar yet sophisticated aesthetic. Adorning the body is a glossy Bakelite pickguard, adding to the guitar's vintage appeal while offering durability and style.

A Neck for the Ages

One of the standout features of this guitar is its neck, which has been meticulously designed to provide unparalleled comfort and playability. The Even C Medium neck profile, carved from 3A Roasted Birdseye Maple, offers a silky-smooth satin finish that feels incredible in the hands. Measuring .840" to .920" with a 1.650" nut width, the neck provides a perfect balance of thickness and comfort, suitable for various playing styles. The fingerboard, also made from 3A Roasted Birdseye Maple, features a 9"-12" compound radius and is equipped with 22 stainless steel heavy frets, measuring .051"x.108". This combination allows for effortless playability and precise intonation across the entire fretboard.

Superior Electronics

The electronics on the Mateus Asato Classic S Signature guitar are designed to deliver a versatile and dynamic tonal range. The guitar is equipped with Suhr's V63+ single-coil pickups in the neck and middle positions, providing a rich, vintage-inspired tone with modern clarity. The bridge position features the custom Asatobucker humbucker, finished in gold, which adds a touch of warmth and power to the guitar's sound. The inclusion of Suhr's Silent Single Coil System II (SSCII) ensures that players can enjoy the traditional single-coil tone without the unwanted 60-cycle hum, all without the need for a battery.

Reliable Hardware

The hardware on the Mateus Asato Classic S Signature guitar is built for reliability and precision. Suhr's proprietary locking tuners provide improved tuning stability, making string changes quick and easy. With an 18:1 gear ratio, these tuners offer precise tuning adjustments, ensuring that the guitar stays perfectly in tune. The 2-Post Tremolo with a steel block adds to the guitar's versatility, allowing for expressive vibrato effects while maintaining excellent tuning stability.

Custom Appointments

Adding to the guitar's uniqueness are several custom appointments that celebrate Mateus Asato's signature style. Each guitar comes with a special laser-engraved neck plate and Mateus' signature on the back of the headstock, adding a personal touch to the instrument. The headstock itself features a gold laser-etched Suhr logo, enhancing the guitar's elegant aesthetic. Delivered in a classy black Tolex hardshell case, the Mateus Asato Classic S Signature guitar is protected and ready for any stage or studio.
