This original "Rickenbacher" Electro lap steel is from the 1940's and it looks like it! There are scratches and chips, and nicks, and it appears like someone used some tape on the fretboard to mark certain frets for learning. There is still some mild residue that could pretty easily be cleaned up along the fretboard. The included amp and lap steel guitar are a matched pair with the same painted finish. The amp DID work, however the cord was badly deteriorated and had multiple places where the sheathing was crumbling off of it. I plugged it in and into the instrument to make sure it worked, but the cord snapped off in several places while transporting and storing. As a former electrician, I would highly recommend having a professional install a new power cord. With a new cord installation, the amp should still work as intended. The carry handle for the amp is also missing. These were usually leather and I never had it in my possession.

The case is in fairly rough shape, but it still closes and latches and keeps the instrument safe. I did replace the tuning pegs with some retro pegs of similar style from Stewart Mac. The original pegs are included, but one of the plastic knobs is broken into pieces, which made it impossible to tune. With the new tuning pegs, the guitar stays in tune just fine.​ I am including all the original parts, two slides, and everything else that was inside the case when I purchased the set.
