The 1994 Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay is a highly sought-after, professional-grade American electric bass guitar built during the golden "early Ernie Ball era". It is celebrated for its punchy, aggressive low-end tone, exceptional tuning stability, and unique historical transitional features.

Key Specifications & Features

  • Body & Neck Construction: Features a select contour-cut ash body paired with a highly stable 6-bolt neck joint. Many necks from this year boast gorgeous birdseye maple graining.
  • Neck Finish: Features a gun oil and wax satin blend neck finish. Ernie Ball permanently replaced their older gloss-lacquered neck finishes with this fast, natural-feeling satin rub between 1992 and 1993.
  • Electronics & Output: Equipped with a powerful single Alnico humbucking pickup coupled with a high-headroom active 3-band EQ (Bass, Mid, Treble). A standard 2-band EQ layout was also optional.
  • The "Flea" Bridge: Features a heavy-duty, top-loading steel bridge outfitted with adjustable rubber mute pads. The 1994 saddles are distinguished by not being cut/slotted in the center, optimizing the alignment of the strings directly over the pickup pole pieces.
  • Visual Blueprint: Instantly recognizable by its 3+1 tuning key configuration, compact headstock, and classic oval pickguard.
  • Weight & Dimensions: This one weighs in at 1054lbs . It features a modern 1 5/8" (41.3 mm) nut width.

Historical Significance

The mid-90s era of Music Man is often viewed by players as the perfect bridge between Leo Fender's raw, mechanical 1970s design and precise modern playability. In 1994, Ernie Ball was still building these instruments in relatively small production numbers out of San Luis Obispo, California. They also began transitioning away from metal battery covers to plastic compartments during this specific production year.

This bass plays great and has really good action. Comes with the shown Original Hard Shell Case. It is located on our showroom floor and weighs 10.54lbs.
