Mesa Boogie Mark III Redstripe 1987 - R2/+ Mod by Mike B.

Up for sale is a genuine 1987 Mesa/Boogie Mark III "Red Stripe" (Simul-Class version), one of the most sought-after amps Mesa ever built. The Red Stripe designation marks the later, most refined revision of the Mark III circuit — tighter, more responsive, and widely considered the pinnacle of the Mark III line.

Complete restoration by Mike B. of Mesa/Boogie (2023)
This amp was gone through top to bottom in 2023 by the legendary Mike Bendinelli — one of Mesa's original and most respected techs, who has been building and servicing Boogies since the early days of the company. Having your amp touched by Mike B. is about as good as it gets in the Mesa world. The amp was fully serviced, gone through, and brought back to peak performance.

R2/+ Modification
As part of the work, Mike added the R2/+ mod. This modification adds pull-boost functionality and voicing options to the Rhythm 2 channel, giving it more gain, girth, and flexibility than the stock circuit. In practice it lets the R2 channel push into thicker, more saturated territory — turning what is normally a clean/crunch channel into something that can hold its own for fatter rhythm and even lead tones. It meaningfully expands the amp's range without altering the classic Mark III character.

Custom Headshell by Scott Stofik
The amp wears a custom-made headshell built by Scott Stofik out of Pennsylvania, who is well known in the Mesa community for his Mesa-parts-supplied headshells. Beautifully crafted and using genuine Mesa hardware, it gives the amp a clean, purpose-built look while protecting the chassis.

Original Reverb Tank Included
The original reverb tank is included in the sale. Note that it has not been installed into the headshell, so the new owner can install it as desired.

In short: an all-time classic Mark III Red Stripe, restored by one of the best in the business, upgraded with the R2/+ mod, and finished in a custom Stofik headshell. These don't come up often — and rarely in this pedigree.
