1960s Kay K311 Vanguard Electric Guitar - Teal / Pale Blue

We’ve had this guitar since mid-1990s. Pickguard cracks and minor body dings shown in pictures. Very nice pale blue color with an aged “green-ing” on the back of the neck.

The Kay K311 Vanguard is a vintage, budget-friendly electric guitar manufactured in the USA between 1965 and 1968. It is highly prized today for its unique, mid-century retro aesthetic and its distinct lo-fi "garage rock" tone. [1]Visual & Physical Design

• Body: Features an asymmetrical, double-cutaway solid hardwood body with a contoured top edge.
• Finish: Coated in a distinct Teal Blue lacquer (a non-metallic pastel shade) with a matching teal headstock.
• Pickguard: Fitted with a massive, raised cream-colored plastic pickguard assembly that hosts all the electronics.
• Neck: Built with an adjustable maple neck, a rosewood fingerboard, 4-to-1 ratio 6-in-line tuners, and a 24-inch short scale length. [1]

Electronics & Hardware

• Pickup: Equipped with a single, unique "caseless" magnetic pickup. This thin coil is mounted directly to the underside of the plastic pickguard rather than being screwed into the wood.
• Controls: One volume knob, one tone knob, and an input jack, all mounted horizontally on the lower half of the pickguard.
• Bridge: Features a simple, adjustable wooden bridge paired with a chrome trapeze tailpiece.
