1981 Gibson Les Paul Standard in Natural finish. This is a good one. I bought it on Reverb and according to the previous owner, this guitar has been updated, adjusted, and setup by Larry Cragg; Neil Young’s guitar tech.

This is the work reported to have been done:

- VIP CTS potentiometers 500m

- Russian PIO caps .022

- Switchcraft toggle

- Pinnacle Steel Nashville Bridge, inserts, posts

- Callaham steel Tailpiece, inserts

- Grover Locking tuners

- Chrome pickup covers, pickups wax potted

The original potentiometers, caps, toggle switch, tailpiece, and non-original bridge is included In the case pocket along with the replaced tuners.

The original receipt and repair tag from Larry Cragg’s shop is also in the case pocket.

This is a well crafted Norlin Era guitar that plays amazing. A players guitar with all the right wear such as buckle rash, scratches, pitts, dings, etc. Played, yet taken care of over the years. Tim Shaw original neck pickup, Seymour Duncan Alnico Il (80’s) bridge pickup. Straight neck with a very nice dark fretboard. Truss rod adjustment nut looks perfect. Frets look non original and are in great shape and feel smooth.

1981 is when the thicker neck profile starts with these Norlins. Fits real nice in the hand, similar to a 59 profile in my opinion. Heavy coming in at 11.2 lbs on my bathroom scale.

I have not done a thing to this guitar. The setup has remained the same. I only removed the truss rod cover to get a photo of the truss rod nut.
