Fuel For The Feeding End is a one-of-a-kind dual drive built around two circuits closely tied to the saturated, harmonically rich tones associated with Claudio Sanchez-era progressive rock rigs.
The signal path runs an SD-1 style overdrive directly into a ’78 Op-Amp Big Muff style fuzz, creating everything from tight mid-pushed articulation to massive layered sustain and compressed wall-of-sound lead tones.
The footswitches are intentionally positioned close together to encourage rapid interaction between both circuits. This layout allows the player to engage both effects simultaneously with a single motion or quickly transition between the SD-1 and Op-Amp Muff sections during performance. While the tighter spacing can make isolated switching slightly less forgiving than a traditional wide dual-pedal layout, this was a deliberate design choice.
The SD-1 section can be used independently as a focused boost or stacked into the Muff for aggressive saturation and soaring sustain. Three external toggle switches expand the tonal range beyond the stock circuits:
I. Muff Tone Bypass
Removes the traditional Big Muff tone stack for a louder, rawer, more immediate fuzz response with increased mids and output.
II. SD-1 Hi/Lo Gain
Switches between a tighter lower-gain drive structure and a more saturated high-gain response for pushing the Muff harder.
III. SD-1 Clipping (Symmetrical/Asymmetrical)
Changes the clipping character of the SD-1 stage from smoother compressed symmetry to a more open, aggressive asymmetrical response.
Finished in a muted olive-drab metallic enclosure with engraved wood side panels and hand-built construction throughout, this unit was designed as a one-off piece rather than a production model. Minor imperfections are part of the build and reflect its handmade nature.
Built by Harold Street Pedal Company in Canada.
