Kapa was an in-house brand of Vennemen's Music in Maryland.

Perhaps it’s a product of its time, but it exudes a retro 1960s vibe.

Sold at about half the price of a Fender at the time, Kapa guitars had their bodies, pickguards, and tremolo units manufactured at the Maryland factory, while the necks, bridges, and pickups were (mostly) sourced from Hofner in Germany, with final assembly taking place in the United States.

The maple/rosewood neck supplied by Hofner features a 648mm scale length and a C-shaped profile with a nut width of 41.5mm.

The body has an offset shape similar to a Mustang or Jazzmaster.

With a body thickness of about 30mm, it is lightweight and gives a sporty, surf-inspired impression.

The finish has been refinished in a cute red color. Weather checking is visible in some areas, giving it a distinguished look.

It is equipped with two Hofner “Staple” humbucker pickups.

Similar to a Gretsch FilterTron, they produce a clear, bright, and smooth tone characteristic of humbuckers.

The controls consist of 1 Volume, 2 Tone, and individual pickup on/off switches. When mixed, the edgy, funky sound is perfect for cutting phrases.

The pickups feature height-adjustable hardware, a specification common since around 1968, ensuring well-balanced sound in every position.

It shows age-appropriate wear, with the finish displaying dents, dings, chips, and scuffs, along with a very cool weathered check pattern.

The neck has a slight forward bow, and while the truss rod feels stiff, it is adjustable.

About half of the frets are worn down and have indentations; while there is some occasional buzzing, the guitar is playable as-is.

Tuners and pickup adjustment screws have been replaced.

Some of the dot markers are recessed below the surface of the fingerboard.
