Gibson Custom Shop / 2022 Model 1952 J-185

[Comment from the person in charge: Hoshino]

In 1951, the J-185 (16-inch) appeared, a slightly smaller version of the 17-inch J-200.

Compared to the long-scale J-200, the J-185, despite its short scale, produces a warm yet crisp and energetic sound. This is truly a guitar that feels great to strum.

This instrument is a Custom Shop reproduction of the first-year J-185.

The spruce top, characterized by its fine grain, has been thermally aged, giving it a bright, crisp tone that sounds like it's been played for many years, even though it's brand new.

Beautiful figured maple is used for the sides and back.

The crown inlay on the headstock and the parallelogram inlay on the fingerboard give it the feel of a higher-end model.

One of the most appealing features of this J-185 replica is the long saddle on the bridge with its Maltese cross inlay.

This contributes to its more vintage-like appearance.

The slim taper neck is easy to grip, and combined with the 16-inch body, it provides a comfortable playing experience.

If you're looking for a modern model that's easy to hold and produces a powerful tone, we highly recommend trying this one.

Please understand in advance.

-To recreate the look of aged paintwork, the finish is deliberately roughened, and the hairline finish enhances the overall sophisticated look.

While there are some scratches on the pickguard from playing, there are no noticeable dents, suggesting that this guitar has been carefully maintained.
