Modern Evolution of a Legendary High‑Gain Platform

The Mod Shop Hot Cat 50 Combo is the latest refinement of Bad Cat’s long‑running high‑gain series, trusted by professional players for more than twenty‑five years. Its redesigned 50‑watt power section, flexible EQ, and dual‑channel layout deliver bigger authority, wider tonal range, and seamless transitions from pristine cleans to saturated high‑gain.

This updated version continues the Hot Cat legacy of bold contrast—huge clean tones, muscular crunch, and studio‑ready gain—all in one uncompromising amp. It’s built to be the centerpiece of any serious rig and excels with both pedals and rack gear, staying responsive and versatile across guitars, genres, and stage environments.

Wide Tonal Range Across Two Channels with Lo/Hi Modes

At its core are two fully independent channels, each featuring Lo and Hi modes for four distinct voices:

Clean Channel

• Lo Mode: Glassy, open American‑style cleans with studio clarity.
• Hi Mode: Adds touch‑sensitive breakup—cranked AC‑style and pushed JTM‑inspired grit.

Overdrive Channel

• Gain Lo: Classic British crunch with excellent articulation.
• Gain Hi: Modern high‑gain punch with tight response and cutting aggression.

These voicings give the Hot Cat 50 remarkable flexibility, letting you move from vintage character to modern force without touching external gear.

Real‑World Features for Stage, Studio, and Pro Rigs

Beyond its tone shaping, the Hot Cat 50 is built for everyday professional use:

• Studio‑quality reverb adds depth without washing out your dry signal.
• Buffered effects loop keeps your pedalboard transparent and responsive.
• Direct line out integrates easily with recording setups and venue systems.
• Two‑button footswitch (included) switches channels and modes effortlessly for live performance.

These features reflect Bad Cat’s focus on genuine, practical usability—not gimmicks.

Premium Construction and USA Craftsmanship

Every detail of the Mod Shop Hot Cat 50 Combo reflects high‑end build quality:

• Custom‑voiced Bad Cat 12" Celestion speaker for wide projection, clarity, and tight low end.
• Dedicated 4, 8, and 16 ohm speaker outputs for pairing with additional cabinets.
• Rugged Baltic birch construction for touring durability.
• Designed and built in Costa Mesa, California, continuing Bad Cat’s boutique‑grade legacy.

This is a road‑ready amp built for players who demand American craftsmanship, tonal authority, and long‑term reliability.

Why We Love It

We love the Hot Cat 50 for its unmatched versatility—sparkling American cleans, articulate crunch, and aggressive high‑gain, all accessible from two seamless channels with switchable Lo/Hi modes. The redesigned power section brings outstanding punch and dynamic feel, while the reverb, FX loop, and line out make it equally at home on stage or in the studio. It takes pedals beautifully and includes a two‑button footswitch and protective cover.
