Love a slim Gibson neck but wish it came with Strat tones? This is that guitar.
Built to order by California Guitars for a player with small fingers who was used to playing an SG Junior but wanted a Strat-style guitar. This bespoke Strat-style instrument pairs a custom narrow-gauge maple neck with a full suite of premium modern hardware — all housed in a gorgeous natural swamp ash body with cream binding. (TBH, I am not 100% sure of the wood, those are my best guesses. Will update this if I hear from the maker.)
The Neck The standout feature here is the custom-profiled maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. The gauge is roughly comparable to a Gibson SG Junior, measuring ~1.5625" at the 1st fret and ~1.95" at the 12th. If you've ever wanted Stratocaster versatility without the baseball-bat grip, this is it. 21 frets, 25.25" scale length (ever-so shorter than standard Stat).
Electronics Loaded with a Fishman Fluence Single Width SSS pickup set (white covers). These are active, rechargeable pickups with two selectable voices per pickup — a vintage single-coil voice and a hot overwound voice — completely noiseless. Charging cord included. Wired through a Free-Way 3B3-01 6-position blade switch, giving you six distinct pickup combinations instead of the standard five. One volume knob, two tone knobs.
Hardware Babicz "Full Contact Hardware" FCH Strat Tremolo Bridge in chrome, with whammy bar included. The patented eCAM saddle system eliminates dead spots between the saddle and bridge plate for noticeably improved sustain and tuning stability. Kluson 6-in-line Locking Revolution Series H-Mount tuners in chrome — 19:1 ratio, sealed, silky smooth. Compact 4-bolt chrome neck plate etched with "El Choob-acabra." (You can ask me why.)
Body & Finish Custom swamp ash body (I think that's the wood) with a natural brown gloss finish and cream binding around the body edge. The grain is beautifully visible throughout. Bolt-on neck construction.
Condition Very good, near-excellent. Frets barely used in fact, no visible wear. All electronics and hardware fully functional. No structural issues. Normal light signs of use consistent with a played instrument. Played only about 20-30 hours max.
Includes Padded Mono electric guitar case with zippered gear pocket — these cases retail for $200–300 new and provide outstanding protection. Fluence rechargeable battery charging cord also included.
