I’m offering a Greco Spacey Sounds TE500N from 1976, built in Japan during what is now considered the golden era of Japanese guitar manufacturing.
This particular example was produced at the Matsumoku factory and belongs to the earliest and most desirable Greco Tele-style models from the mid 70s. Instruments from this period are becoming increasingly difficult to find in such well-preserved condition.
The guitar is finished in a beautiful naturally aged Butterscotch Blonde, which developed a very authentic vintage appearance over the decades. Combined with the maple neck and classic black Greco logo, it captures exactly the vibe people search for in old-school Tele-style instruments.
What makes this guitar especially interesting is its character. Unlike many later copies, these early Matsumoku-built Grecos have their own personality, extremely lively acoustic response and very resonant wood. The guitar is lightweight, highly resonant and exceptionally responsive in the hands.
Tone-wise, it delivers everything expected from a great vintage Tele-style guitar:
- dynamic attack
- open and woody midrange
- fast response
- clear yet warm bridge pickup tone
- excellent articulation for both clean and driven sounds
The neck pickup offers smooth vintage warmth, while the bridge pickup retains proper twang, clarity and bite without becoming harsh. Together they create a very musical and versatile instrument.

The guitar is in near excellent condition considering it was built in 1976. It has been preserved exceptionally well and presents far better than most examples from this era.
Only light natural signs of use and subtle age-related patina are visible on the body and hardware. The finish retained a beautiful gloss and aged very evenly over the years.
The frets remain in very good condition, the guitar plays comfortably with low action, and the entire instrument clearly feels well cared for throughout its life.
The neck is stable, the truss rod works correctly and the guitar is fully ready to play.
Included:
- vintage hard case
This is a fantastic example of an early Japanese Tele-style guitar from the period when brands such as Greco, Tokai and Fernandes started building instruments that would later become legendary among players and collectors worldwide.
