The Starplayer Special is a reproduction of the first Duesenberg prototypes from 1992 and won the 2003 "Guitar of the Year" in the UK.

It has a solid body of American alder and a screwed neck in American hard rock maple with a rosewood fingerboard. This combination gives an exceptional sound with harmonics, clarity, attack and long sustain. Equipped with a Crunchbucker pickup that has a little more output in the bridge position and a Grand Vintage Humbucker in the neck position. All metal parts have Duesenberg's own unique design in Art Deco style that is reflected down to the smallest detail. Its has a single-cut shape and a bolted-on maple neck. The wood types used is where this model differs from its American predecessor, which invariably uses mahogany. The body surrounds the heel of the neck and makes good contact all round ensuring long sustain and a distinct character. The Duesenberg Starplayer Special Blue Sparkle features a Grand Vintage humbucker in the neck position and a slightly higher-output Duesenberg Crunchbucker at the bridge. As its name suggests, the body has a beautiful blue sparkle finish. While this guitar screams 'rock', its Multi-Tone control means it's suitable for a variety of other styles too.
