DESCRIPTION
The Gibson Hummingbird Special brings one of the most iconic acoustic guitar designs ever made into a more accessible, USA-built format—without sacrificing the tone, craftsmanship, or visual appeal players expect. First introduced in 1960, the Hummingbird has long been celebrated for its warm, balanced voice and unmistakable aesthetic, and this Special edition continues that legacy with modern refinements.
Built with a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, this guitar delivers a rich tonal palette with excellent dynamic range. The slightly thinner “concert depth” body enhances comfort while tightening the bass response, making it ideal for both studio work and live performance where clarity in the mix is key.
The utile neck features a comfortable Round profile, paired with a rosewood fingerboard and classic pearloid parallelogram inlays—hallmarks of the Hummingbird’s timeless design. Premium appointments like a TUSQ nut and saddle, along with Grover Rotomatic tuners, ensure consistent performance and dependable tuning stability.
Equipped with an L.R. Baggs Element Bronze pickup system and soundhole-mounted volume control, the Hummingbird Special is stage-ready right out of the case. Finished in satin nitrocellulose lacquer, it offers a vintage-inspired look with a smooth, resonant feel that enhances the guitar’s natural voice.
Whether you're a songwriter, performer, or collector, the Hummingbird Special delivers legendary Gibson tone and style in a refined, player-friendly package.
