In 1980, Leo Fender and George Fullerton founded a new company called G&L, which emerged from the existing firm ‘CLF-Research’. Until then, ‘CLF-Research’ had been manufacturing guitars and basses for Music Man, a company Leo Fender had also helped to establish. Following a falling out with the management of “Music Man”, production began under the name G&L (George & Leo) at the existing factory on “Fender Avenue” – the very same street where the first Fender factory had stood.

The two founders set to work with an innovative and fresh approach and quickly gathered a large following of fans who appreciate top quality at fair prices, combined with the authentic sound of the Californian classics.

For the past few years, G&L has also been relying on German engineering expertise – all US-made instruments are dressed using the PLEK machine to ensure perfect playability!
