Martin / 1975 D-28

"Martin's Best-Selling Model"

The Martin D-28 was incredibly popular during the folk song boom of the 1960s and 70s, becoming an instantly coveted guitar, used by artists such as Kosetsu Minami, Takahiko Ishikawa, and Shozo Ise.

The Martin D-28 continues to be played on many famous songs today, undergoing various specification changes.

Dreadnought Body
It goes without saying that Martin's dreadnought created the foundation of the folk guitar.

The tone emanating from this spruce body combines power and richness; playing this guitar will make you think, "That's the sound of that song!"

The body features white binding and purfling with white/black lines, and the soundhole is adorned with a white/black rosette.

Side/Back
Around 1970, the specifications changed to Indian rosewood.
This instrument also uses quarter-sawn Indian rosewood.
The center strip features a checkerboard pattern.
The body back has white binding, similar to the top.

Fingerboard
The ebony fingerboard features mother-of-pearl dot position markers.
A distinctive feature is the larger dot size, which has been used since 1947.

Neck
The neck has a comfortable thickness and a soft V-shape, providing a pleasant grip.

Bridge
The ebony downbelly bridge is fitted with a short saddle.

Tuning Machine
The tuner is equipped with a GROVER 102.
The smooth gears support comfortable tuning.
