Up for sale, a VERY nice 1954 Gretsch Electromatic model #6190 / later renamed the Streamliner. (although some features indicate it might be from 1953)

Single cutaway, fully hollow, pure vintage archtop electric guitar, first Introduced by Gretsch in 1951.

Laminated spruce top, 21 fret rosewood fingerboard with block inlays, oversized F-holes, beautiful warm tone provided by a single Gretsch patented Filtertron humbucker pickup, likely installed in the later 50s. Volume and tone controls, chrome "G" logo tailpiece. Very comfortable neck shape, sometimes described as 'chunky C' shaped profile. The neck feels great and is quite clean, with hardly a scratch.

Angled "GRETSCH" logo on headstock, Beautiful vintage USA made tone machine.

Condition: this is a 70 year old instrument in overall GREAT condition. This guitar has been owned by a bass player for the past 30+ years, so it was very rarely played. Back in the 90s, it got a fret job, replaced fingerboard binding and a replacement rosewood bridge. So the frets have just about no play wear. The condition of the wood - body, neck and headstock, are all far above average, something like 9 out of 10. On the negative side, there are a few small breaks in the body binding - with the worst two breaks being: 1. about 1.25" long on the front binding near the volume control, and 2, being about 1" long on the back binding near the cutaway. (see photos) There are a few other smaller breaks in the binding, but overall excellent. If you would like any additional photos or have specific questions, feel free to reach out or for more details read our shop description. 😁

Some scratches etc. are present, typical of a 70 year old guitar, but quite possibly the best condition 6190 currently on Reverb, and she is playing well, with a fresh set of flat wound 12–52. Feel free to make an offer!
