Kent Hollowbody 1960s Bass, Model 822, Sunburst

Beautiful Kent model 822 4-string hollowbody bass guitar from approximately 1967. It is a short-scale 30" bass, with individual tone and volume controls for each pickup. The electronics are in working order, it has a nice warm sound with a lot of variations possible. The neck has pearloid blocks (including on 1st fret) and pearloid headstock decor, and both neck and body feature the "Kent" cursive logo in pearloid. The warm sunburst pattern and the vintage touches like thumb rest, bridge cover, white-lined F-holes, and a fancy striped edge all combine for a great-looking, very playable vintage bass. The hollowbody also gives a nice loud sound for unamplified practice.

As you'd expect for a 55-year-old bass, it does have some dings, see pics for close-ups. The body has minor checking and finish aging all over, but no buckle rash or structural cracks. On top of the upper horn, there is what appears to be a patch where someone tried to add another strap peg (the factory peg is still in place under the top horn). On the lower horn, there is a place where a small piece of the binding has broken off. Finally, only one of the two bridge cover screws is there. It does hold the "ashtray" style bridge cover on, but the other screw is long-gone and I have not been able to locate a suitable replacement.

In May of 2024, this bass had a full professional setup, truss rod adjustment, cleaning, oiling, and nut slot filing job (receipt shown in pics). I will ship in a ChromaCast gig bag which, I don't know how it will hold up over time, but it actually has a lot of thoughtfully-designed pockets and backpack straps. These gig bags get a bad rap just for being affordable!
