Vintage B.C. Rich Mockingbird Bass Late 70s - Early 80s - Glamrock Glitter Pink - Epic Custom Paint Neck Thru Legend
This Glamrock legend surely has a story behind it - and it’s your turn to be a part of it.
A vintage B.C. Rich Mockingbird of the neck-thru variety . . . you dreamed of it as a kid, hoping it would make you into the rock god you always wanted to be. And here is is, bass boat paint and all.
The history of this guitar is not known to me. All I can tell you is that it came from Hollywood, and maybe it can take you there someday too. I’m not sure if this is an old custom shop or if someone had it professionally refinished. But look up “Rick Derringer“ Mockingbird if you want to get the gears turning. It has old bass boat paint and its glory only shines for real if you behold it in person - pictures don’t even begin to capture it. It’s not a rainbow, it’s a REASON.
But I took tons of pics to try to give you an idea of how epic this thing looks in real life. There aren’t many imperfections but I did my best to capture them. There’s a small chip on the back in the paint, and a barely noticeable dent on the bottom. The headstock also appears to have some slight roughness where the paint meets the wood grain, as I believe the original owner wanted to preserve the NJ series logo. I tried to show it in pics.
It has the legendary original Mockingbird circuit - the sound is killer and it pounds your eardrums like the crowd stomping and screaming your name. You can lose yourself to the distortion and the gentle hum of the 80s calling you back…
I tested this thoroughly and the electronics are solid - the only thing I noticed is when the switch is in the upmost position, it only works when the middle knob is past the halfway point - but I believe this is a feature of the engineering of the time. A blueprint of the era, so to speak. The other two switch positions are perfect. There‘s barely even a hum when you plug it in and let it sit idle, that’s how clean that old school B.C. Rich circuitry is. It’s legendary for a reason.
This is the old neck thru style so it’s likely from the early 80s, but I put late 70s possible because I’m not sure.
It’s getting harder and harder to find these. You might not get another chance. Seize the day and change your luck with this epic piece of rock and metal history!
