THIS GUITAR IS NO LONGER FOR SALE. THANKYOU FOR YOUR INTEREST.

Fans and foes, THE MYSTERY HAS BEEN SOLVED. 😎

Money Calculations:
Price is based on the 439.25% rise in inflation pertaining to this piece.

1977: $2500. 00                2026: $13,481.23

The Joker was for sale at 9K, and then I dropped the price to 6K.
I feel I have been quite reasonable in this department and I include a new case.

And now! (drumroll please)
Take your seats, this is better than you imagined!

The Joker you see here is verified as being built by a born and raised in San Francisco Alembic craftsman in 1975 and was completed in 1977.
ALL components of the Joker are handmade, even though, at the time, Alembic had begun to use machines in aspects of their builds.

There are only two Joker guitars on the planet; the other is an acoustic.

The Joker’s woods: All of the red/orange wood is Padauk. The body core is Walnut. The fingerboard and off center laminations on the neck are Indian Rosewood, and all of the blond veneer laminations are Maple.

Doug Irwin and this Maker both cut their chops at Alembic. A contact number and the gracious invitation to connect with said Master Maker of The Joker will be gifted upon final sale too! Lol. Backstage pass to the past available with purchase. And Shhhh! If you know the builder don’t tell, it’s more fun this way~

Built at the time of Jerry Garcia’s Tiger and shortly after Doug Irwin’s Wolf (Who’s a Deadhead? Me!), this ‘all components are handmade in a chicken shack in Cotati, CA’ wonderment got me backstage at The Gorge, WA when Phil & Friends (w/friend Robben Ford) opened for Bob Dylan.

However, the nut with room for improvement you see here is not the original (still talking about the guitar😉).

And now, the deets:

This hollow cavity, female bodied monster has a separate neck with hand cut frets, two wings, self-laminated block joint, brass sustain block under the bridge, and the same scale and cut as the Les Paul profile.

3 Pickups: The neck and bridge pickups are DiMarzio Super Distortion Humbuckers W/ Pulse Switches, and the mid is a DiMarzio Hot Strat.

Volume and Tone knobs for each pickup.

Master Volume knob.

On/off switch to bypass electronics to send pickups to the jack.

On/off switches for pickups.

And Buffer Amplifier.

This is the real deal folks.

Mic Drop
