Here is a great playing and super sweet looking Black Beauty. They say imitation is the greatest form of flattery... Here is a vintage Greco EGC68-50 modeled after the classic 1968 Gibson Les Paul Custom. This one has a more 50's vibe due to the knobs. The fine luthiers at the FugiGen plant in Japan paid careful attention to detail while designing this guitar, and the Greco "Mint Collection" excels at reproducing the feel and tone that gave vintage Gibson LPs their legendary status. The exquisite craftsmanship along with a gloss ebony finish, killer sounding set of Maxon "Screamin 1982" pickups, long neck tenon and solid mahogany body with a maple Top deliver an amazing combination of tone and playability that is a true homage to the classic look, sound and feel of the timeless beauties coming out of Kalamazoo in the late 1950's. Here is a truly great playing and sounding Custom at a fraction of the price. Bring this beauty home and add some sick mojo to your arsenal. This guitar is in very good cosmetic condition but does show some normal play-wear. The are little dings, dents, surface scratches, and buckle marks adding to the character and showing a nice light relic feel, allowing you to jam worry free. There are also some scuffs and finish reaction to some fingerprints on the top. Nothing affecting the playability and merely small cosmetic love marks. (see all pics)
This is one of the best and most sought after high end Les Paul’s Greco once manufactured.
- Solid mahogany body
- Two piece solid maple top
- Roseood fretboard
- Greco double trick pickups (second most expensive for the time, sublime and maxon made
- Bound frets
- 68 style bridge posts
As soon as you set eyes on this "black beauty" you can't help but feel the vintage mojo oozing out. The black nitro finish, gold hardware and cream binding are the perfect combination for a classic vintage style. The deep, rich ebony fretboard has quadrilateral mother of pearl inlays at each fret marker adding just the right amount of contrast to the rest of the design. The headstock has small volute multi-ply binding & Greco Branded tuners. There are Gold Keystone button Tuners which add even more to the vintage appeal of this guitar. It seems to have been a closet queen or seldom played as she only has a few dings, dents and minor surface scratches mainly on the back and edges of the body. Overall she is in excellent cosmetic condition for a guitar that is nearly 40 years old.
It sounds strong and clear thanks to original "Screamin" pickups that produce a classic P.A.F. tone.
If you are in search of guitar that has all the characteristics and appeal of a '68 Gibson LP at a fraction of the cost, then you need to give a close look to this Greco...she is sure to not disappoint!
Mint Collection Series: (-Taken from Japtone.com)
In 1982 the “Mint Collection Series” with an open O GRECO logo was introduced (an O letter with the top part of the O letter removed) which continued the high standard of the “Super Real Series”. Most of the “Mint Collection Series” models with an open O GRECO logo end in 1990. In the early 1990s most of the GRECO guitars returned to a closed O GRECO logo (but there were some open O GRECO logo guitars made in the early 1990s as well). There were also some transitional GRECO models from 1981/1982 that have a mixture of “Super Real Series” and “Mint Collection Series” features, such as a “Super Real” model with an open O letter in the GRECO logo instead of a closed O letter.
Model EG59-85 upward, have Nitro finishes and some 82 transition models have fret edge binding, with high quality electrics and GRECO P.A.F type pickups. The EG59-100 and EG58-120 have laminate flametops, DRY-1982 pickups and 50’s style necks. Some of the EG58-120’s also have fret binding and are very similar to the EGF-1200 Super Real, but with slightly slimmer profile necks. Again the highest production model was the EG60-180 with a solid flametop, like the previous EGF-1800’s. Above the 180’s there were also some very rare EG59-240 limited edition models, with solid flametops, fatter flamed maple necks, gold hardware, and ebony fingerboards. The later years, 89-91 the EG-1000D appeared, which was an EG59-100 with Seymour Duncan pickups as stock. The “Mint Collection Series” features varied according to price, with some of the higher-end models, such as the EG58-120, model having most of the features of the “Super Real” higher-end models. Most of the “Mint Collection Series” had long-tenon neck joints, but some had medium long tenon neck joints.
Until 1985 the Mint Collection series had a volume of around 1,000 instruments for the whole run. In 1985 the technicians who invented and built the Mint Collection series split off the company and other luthiers went on with this series until 1989/90, but it was more kind of a mass production in the second half of the 80’s.
There were also some GRECO “Super Sound”, “Super Power” and “Rock Spirits” Gibson replica models made. The “Super Sound” models were mid-priced models from the “Super Real” years (1979-1982) and the “Super Power” models were lower-priced models from the “Super Real” years (1979-1982). The “Rock Spirits” models were lower-priced models from between 1979 and the early 1990s.

Return Policy, Restocking Fees & No Tire-Kicking Policy
We follow Reverb’s 7-day return policy. However:
- You must notify us in writing within 3 days of delivery (per tracking) of your intent to return.
- Original shipping and return shipping costs are not refunded unless the guitar is damaged in transit or is significantly not as described.
- A 15% restocking fee applies to all returns for any reason other than damage in transit or significantly not as described.
We record demo videos of every guitar before shipping to document exact condition and performance. Additional photos, measurements, or in-hand descriptions are available upon request prior to purchase.
Minor adjustments and tweaks to a set up (for example to correct a slight buzz or truss-rod tweak) are normal after shipping due to carrier mishandling the package, climate & atmospheric changes, especially when moving from South Florida to colder or less humid environments. These slight issues do not constitute “significantly not as described.” Guitars must be returned in the exact same condition as received/advertised or additional repair/restocking fees will apply.
We are a small business, not a big-chain retailer. We invest significant time and effort into every guitar. This is a NO TIRE-KICKING shop. There is no post purchase haggling or partial refunds. If minor cosmetic marks, tiny imperfections, or the possibility of a post-shipping setup tweak makes you uncomfortable, please do not buy. Plenty of large retailers offer free trials and can absorb shipping costs—we do not.
