Gibson Custom Shop 60th Anniversary J-185 Quilt Custom Vintage Sunburst 2011.

In 2011, the Gibson Custom Shop produced a limited run of just 60 pieces, for the 60th Anniversary J-185 Quilt Custom. This guitar was crafted by a master luthier in Bozeman, Montana, and released as a special limited edition for Gibson Acoustic Five Star dealers.

This rare model, crafted using the finest traditional tone woods features a rare solid Adirondack red spruce top, while the back and sides are crafted from beautiful quilted maple. The finish is Vintage Sunburst, hand-applied with a nitrocellulose lacquer. Traditional J-185-style X-bracing is reinforced by scalloped spruce bracing. This guitar retains the high-quality look of the classic J-185 with multi-ply binding, a double-ring rosette, multi-ply back binding, and a tortoise-patterned "J-185" pickguard.

The neck is machined from mahogany with a modified "V" profile that feels comfortable in the hand, while the traditional compound dovetail joint is secured with hot hide glue. Rosewood is used for the fingerboard and incorporates a mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlay, beautifully complementing the headstock logo and crown inlay.

The scale length is the popular 24-3/4 inches (approximately 628mm), and the nut width is 1.725 inches (approximately 43.8mm). The nut is made of bone, providing the exceptional playing feel that fans are familiar with.

This is an acoustic-electric guitar equipped with what appears to be an LR Baggs "Element" pickup and a volume control next to the soundhole.

Appearance/Condition: There are signs of use, such as minor scratches, dullness on parts, and small dents here and there. A crack in the top of the body was expertly repaired by our luthier. The nut has been replaced with a new bone nut.

Truss Rod: Plenty of room for adjustment

Frets: Approximately 50% remaining, with no issues

Neck]: Straight.

Nut Width: Approximately 43mm.

String Height: 1st string: Approximately 2.4mm / 6th string: Approximately 3.1mm at the 12th fret.

When examining a truss rod on a straight neck, we check that it can turn up to about 45 degrees in both directions. When we say the truss rod can be adjusted, we mean it can be adjusted up to 45 degrees. Anything beyond that risks damaging the instrument.
