Squier 40th Anniversary Vintage Edition (Satin Sonic Blue)
This guitar is part of my curated collection, and it represents a genuine discovery. After the modern 40th Anniversary (my Ruby Red) shattered my expectations of the Squier brand, I had to acquire its "vintage" counterpart. Of that series, only this specific model—the satin Sonic Blue—spoke to me.
The aesthetic combination of the body color, the aged components, and the dark-tinded neck is a visual knockout. It’s one of those guitars that just hits you in the eyes and goes straight for your wallet.
The Surprise
The modern 40th Anniv. series surprised me after years of ignoring Squier, but I have to say, this one surprised me even more.
I own many expensive, high-end guitars, and the feel of this satin neck is simply astonishing. It is unbelievably smooth. If you look closely at the grain, it's practically semi-quarter sawn—a premium feature you often don't even find on standard American models. It also features nicely rolled fretboard edges, which makes it incredibly comfortable, especially if you use your thumb over the top like Hendrix. It's a genuine pleasure to play.
Now, let's be honest: from the factory, the frets were in a sorry state and desperately needed a full polish. That has been professionally addressed. Furthermore, the guitar has been given two professional-level upgrades: it is now fully shielded with conductive paint (to significantly reduce noise) and has been equipped with a 10-position "super switch" (5+5), giving it an impressive new range of tonal versatility.
Beyond these crucial fixes and upgrades, the guitar is a shocker for a Squier.
It has the total package: a stunning aesthetic (let's be honest, many American Fenders have boring, uninspired aesthetics) and a truly inspiring feel when you just slide your hand down the neck. I'll say this flat out: this Squier arrived from the factory better finished and set up than a Fender American Vintage II that I recently owned (which I promptly returned for being a disgrace). It came with a twisted neck and finish bleed onto the rosewood fretboard!!
That's just the reality of it. Squier has earned my respect. Fender is doing something smart here, allowing the Squier line to experiment more freely than the main Fender brand. As manufacturing processes have improved so dramatically over the years, what you get (especially with these mods) is a 100% "gig-able" professional instrument.
A round of applause for Squier.
My Philosophy: My collection is not guided by conventional measures such as vintage year or celebrity ownership, as I hold a different perspective. I appreciate each guitar as a work of art—its beauty, craftsmanship, its exclusivity (being limited, scarce, or hard to obtain), the character revealed in the wood, and the individuality of its form.
Regarding the Sale: This guitar is listed here more as a "gallery" to showcase my collection. The listed price should be considered a reference price, intended to discourage casual or "light" purchases. I am open to offers only from a true enthusiast who understands and is specifically seeking this particular instrument. If you are passionate about this specific model and know why you want it, please make an offer, and I will then consider whether or not to sell.
