This panflute has jatoba pipes and purpleheart bracing bars.
The notes are G# A C E F F# g# a b d. The tuning is approximately ‘A Melodic Minor’ or ‘A Harmonic Minor’. The technique is generally context-based where F is going downwards and F# is going upwards in ‘melodic minor’ and F# is ignored for ‘harmonic minor‘. The omitted notes of B D and c are a convention of tradition; the omitted notes make the music necessarily more primitive.
Please note, by design, the panflute is a primitive instrument; it is not like modern orchestral woodwinds - the panflute is a folk instrument and is best when used for folk music. These panflutes will absolutely work with any piano, guitar, or violin, however, for beginners, it is necessary to understand that the panflute is better suited to folk music instead of modern orchestral performance. This is partly because the higher notes always require practice to tune properly, but, the low notes are very easy to adjust. The main considerations are (1) the angle of tilt of the panflute, (2) the angle of the airstream, and (3) the pressure of the airstream. Every time you change note, it is easy to accidentally tilt the instrument and this changes the baseline tuning. With practice, the highest notes are easy to memorize and the lowest notes can be adjusted up or down for whatever effect needed.
If you find that you cannot play the panflute easily, returns are accepted within two weeks of purchase if the panflute is clean & undamaged.
Amazingly, Reverb won’t allow me to put a link in for the audio on SoundCloud. If you look up “panflute” on Craigslist in ZIP 83860, you’ll find the audio link.
