Nik Huber Orca: Bernie Marsden Matched Pair, Mint #12/12, Highly - figured Flame and Goldtop Light Relic Satin Finishes; likely, no more than five matched pairs exist worldwide. These guitars are mint.
The Listing
After an introduction by his friend Paul Reed Smith, who had previously released a Bernie Marsden Signature SE guitar, Bernie Marsden selected Nik Huber to co-design and bring to fruition his vision of the ultimate guitar. As fate would have it, this Limited Edition Series would be Bernie's last and final testament to his vision of the ultimate guitar.
The offered guitars are the LAST to be associated with the legendary guitarist and guitar connoisseur.
A rock and blues guitarist whose career spanned over five decades, Bernie Marsden, co-founder of Whitesnake, songwriter, and renowned guitar collector, knew that creating the ultimate guitar for blues and rock and roll would require exquisite craftmanship, the wood he had collected over the years, and a groundbreaking design.
Nik Huber designed a "honeycomb routing" pattern that allows length-grain and cross-grain connections between the body and the guitar's top. This pattern captures the sustain and resonance of a solid and semi-hollow body while reducing weight.
Bernie chose the historic 1956 and 1959 Les Pauls as the template for his designs. The 1956 LP Goldtop introduced a stop tail with the tun-o-matic bridge and P-90 pickups, and the latter epitomizes the "Holy Grail" of guitars with humbuckers.
Additionally, to further marry the past with new technological advances, honeycomb routing, a redesigned heel joint increasing access to the upper frets, and utilizing push/pull knobs, allowing the traditional four knobs to become three.
With Bernie's passing, no more signature guitar series will be produced by any manufacturer. Only 12 Nik Huber authorized dealers worldwide received one matched pair of these guitars. At least seven of these pairs are separated, as evidenced by the Goldtops for sale at various times on Reverb, numbers 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 10, and 11.
The guitars show exquisite craftsmanship. Bernie's signature is on each back, and the necks are Madagascar Rosewood.
International shipping chargers are an estimate. Only any overage will be refunded.
