1997 Gretsch G6120DE Duane Eddy Signature — First Production Year | Pre-Fender | Excellent (Mint Condition)

This is the one collectors wait for.

The 1997 Gretsch G6120DE is the first-year production run of Duane Eddy's signature guitar — built before Fender's acquisition, when Gretsch was still crafting instruments with the premium woods and old-school attention that made the brand legendary. It turns 30 next year. Vintage status is arriving.

I am the original owner. This guitar has spent nearly its entire life in the case. It is indistinguishable from new — not "good for its age," genuinely mint.

Why This Guitar Is Rare

- First-year production G6120DE — early runs are increasingly difficult to find in any condition
- Pre-Fender era (pre-2002) — widely regarded among Gretsch enthusiasts as the benchmark for build quality, wood selection, and craftsmanship
- Ebony Burst finish — discontinued; you cannot order this finish on any current model
- Comes with original case, specification sheet, and Gretsch F-hole cutout — signed by Duane Eddy himself

The Pre-Fender Difference

If you're comparing this to a new G6120DE: today's version sells for comparable money — but it is not the same guitar. The pre-Fender instruments are recognized for superior wood quality and craftsmanship that current production does not replicate. You are not paying a vintage premium for nostalgia. You are getting a demonstrably better-built instrument.

Who This Is For

This guitar belongs with a serious Gretsch collector, a Duane Eddy devotee, or a player who wants a genuinely special instrument they will never need to upgrade. It is not a player's beater. It is a centerpiece.

Condition: Excellent (Mint) — case queen since new
