Up for sale, a Burns London Bison '62 reissue in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. With its distinctive batwing headstock, inward curved body horns, and advanced pickup selector system. this guitar was Jim Burns' greatest creation and this reissue retains its strong look, sound, and character. Already the recipient of great praise from the music media, it has a punchy vintage tone but delivers great modern sounds as well, with its unique Wild Dog and Split Sound settings. This guitar weighs in at a hearty 10lbs 4oz, thanks in no small part to the imposing body, carved from nato and paired with a maple neck and rosewood fretboard. Acoustically, the guitar has a bright, crisp voice that translates well through the pickups. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Burns Bison has slinky, low action and 10-46 strings.
Nothing quite compares to the Iconic Burns Tri-Sonic pickup, which has always held a unique niche in musical history. From warm, smooth jazz tones, to sparkling highs, right through to screaming, orchestral lead lines, the Burns Tri-Sonic has always delivered. This particular Burns reissue boasts a trio of these famed pickups, which were lovingly recreated and reverse engineered from the originals by Adrian Turner of Adeson Pickups, a major contributor to the Burns line of reissue instruments.
The maple neck has a fast and slender C shaped profile, with well rounded shoulders and a solid feel. The bound rosewood fretboard sports pearl dot inlay and 22 medium jumbo frets that show virtually no wear, with well rounded crowns. The neck is straight, the truss rod is responsive, and the profile has a smooth gloss finish that feels great on the palm. The headstock has six Burns stamped chrome tuning machines that turn smoothly , as well as a clear lucite "Bison Guitar" batwing logo that matches the contour of the headstock.
All of the electronics work as they should, with the four-way rotary pickup selector coupled with an A/B rotary toggle. This innovative system allows for four pickup settings on the A bank, and four more settings on the B bank, essentially offering you every combination available between the three Tri-Sonic pickups. Master Volume and Tone controls round out the electronics. The chrome hardware is in fantastic shape, including the Stratocaster-style vibrato unit that works very smoothly and comes with a newer Strat vibrato arm that threads perfectly into the Burns unit. The body has a rich red sunburst finish and shows sparingly little cosmetic wear, with a couple light nicks on the back of the guitar, as well as some light scratches on the vibrato cover plate on the back of the instrument, and on the pickguard surrounding the knobs on the face of the guitar. Otherwise, this is an extremely clean guitar, and a reissue of a classic Burns model.
The original black tolex hardshell case is included. The case has working latches, a clean handle, and only some minor scratches on the exterior.
