Selling my Peavey Wolfgang Special in Trans Amber with quilt maple top. This guitar plays and sounds excellent. If not for one small blemish in the finish, (see last picture) it would be perfect. I recently upgraded to a USA Standard Wolfgang, so this one must find a new home. This sale includes a newer EVH hard shell case in mint condition as well. After approximately two years of development, Peavey introduced the Wolfgang Special QT in 2002. Manufactured in Korea and part of the International Series, it is also commonly referred to as the Wolfgang Special EXP.[6] Period documentation specifies a 25.5-inch scale, 22 frets, a basswood body with a quilted-maple top and hand-finished faux binding, a hard-rock maple neck, two humbuckers developed to Van Halen's specifications, one volume control, a three-position selector switch, and a licensed double-locking tremolo with D-Tuna.[6] Available finishes were Blue, Maroon, Amber and Sunburst.[6]

The top consists of an approximately 3/16-inch maple layer made from three or four pieces, covered with a quilted-maple veneer.[7][27] The neck does not have the two graphite reinforcement bars used on the USA models and is approximately 1.2 mm wider at the 12th fret, resulting in greater string spacing.[7][27] The model uses Grover Mini tuning machines and a Korean-made licensed Floyd Rose with squared saddles, similar to a Schaller unit; no fixed-bridge version is documented.[7]

Peavey's 2002 documentation describes the neck as oil-finished, while in fact it has a satin polyester finish.[6][7] The word Special on the front of the headstock is positioned slightly farther inward than on the USA Special.[7]

Early Korean examples may lack the EVH signature on the back of the headstock because the equipment needed to apply it arrived after production had begun.[7] The information on the back of the headstock is printed in black rather than incised and branded as on the USA models.[7]
