This fine piece is a Universal Audio 2-610. A dual channel Tube Mic Pre with EQ. The 610 was originally designed by Bill Putnam Sr. back in the late 1950s. In case you don’t know him, He gave the music world, the 610-channel strip, the LA2A Tube Compressor, the 175B Limiting Amp, its brother, the 176 Vari Mu Compressor and 1176 FET Compressor.
What we have here is a pair of Tube Mic Channels that push the signal so nicely, right from the gain control. Just choose the amount of punch you want, then tweak the EQ to your liking and finally, find your ideal output level. The 610 adds more color to the signal than newer tube mic preamp designs. I consider that to be a big positive. It’s 1960s warmth is timeless.
I have two of these units for sale here on Reverb.
