The Kapa CH-6 Challenger Hollow Body is a relatively rare, vintage 1960s electric instrument. While the vast majority of Kapa Challenger models were Fender-style solid body guitars, founder Koob Veneman built a very limited run of fully hollow and semi-hollow body guitars and basses under the Challenger name. These were assembled in Hyattsville, Maryland, utilizing a mix of American parts and German-imported components.
Specifications
- Body Style: Double cutaway with pointed horns and featuring standard f-holes. They are constructed with lightweight laminated maple.
- German-Sourced Electronics: Equipped with Hofner "double staple" pickups sourced from Germany, paired with distinct independent volume and tone controls for each pickup.
- The Neck: Built with a bolt-on maple neck and rosewood fretboard supplied directly by Hofner and featuring a distinct, chunky round C-profile.
- Tonal Character: Known for a warm, full-bodied resonance with a clear midrange bite.
