Redefining the Classic
The Maybach Lester Black Velvet '54 Custom is a Les Paul-style guitar featuring a carved maple top, a mahogany neck, an Indian rosewood fretboard, and a "Black Velvet" finish. Based on the body shapes and neck profiles used in 1954 and from 1957 to 1959, this guitar delivers the sound redefined by guitarists in the 1960s—including Peter Green and Slash, among others. The guitar is built with a mahogany body and weighs less than 4 kg.
Following the classic recipe, Maybach’s Lester design relies on a mahogany body with a glued-on maple top. Special attention is paid to the weight of the wood used to achieve the ideal center of gravity when strapped on. Furthermore, no Lester exceeds the "golden limit" of 4 kg in total weight; this immensely benefits both sound and comfort, ensuring countless hours of playing enjoyment even during long sessions.
The Lester Black Velvet '54 comes equipped with two "soapbar"-style P90 pickups. Two Spirit P90 pickups from the German winder Amber Pickups handle the sound conversion for the Lester. This boutique pickup manufacturer has made a name for itself among PAF enthusiasts with its Classic and CrossPoint 59 models and is one of the most sought-after pickup winders on the market.
