1987-1989 Jackson USA Bolt-on Strat – Black w/ Cream Splatter – Ontario-built, San Dimas Plate – Original Case
Vintage USA-made Jackson bolt-on Strat from the late 1980s in an unusual gloss black finish with cream paint splatter, with its original Jackson hardshell case.
Dating / origin
- Neck plate serial 6535 (San Dimas address). Per Jackson's bolt-on dating chart and collector sources, this places the guitar in 1987–1989, built at the Ontario, CA factory, which used up leftover San Dimas neck plates during its first years.
- Factory build label in the spring cavity (work order no. 6117; finish over the label; see photos).
- I bought the guitar used from a dealer in 2004. It has not been modified by me since.
Specs (as found)
- Body: gloss black with cream paint-splatter finish under a thick high-gloss clear coat (not metalflake)
- Neck: bolt-on maple neck, 22 frets, dark fingerboard (believed ebony), dot inlays, Jackson pointy headstock with "Made in U.S.A." logo
- Pickups: passive Jackson single-coil (neck) and Jackson humbucker (bridge)
- Controls: master volume and 5-way lever pickup selector
- Tremolo: Jackson-branded locking tremolo, made in Germany by Schaller, licensed under Floyd Rose patents; locking nut; (non-original) trem arm included
- Tuners: Jackson-branded, black
- Shielded control cavity, no battery or active electronics
- Weight: approx. 3.8–3.9 kg (8.4–8.6 lb)
Condition
- Plays well, stays perfectly in tune, all pickup positions and the volume control work
- Little played since 2004, mostly at home; serviced once by a luthier (c. 2011). Stored in its case in a dry, temperature-stable environment.
- Strings are a few years old. A fresh set and a quick setup are recommended.
- The finish is in very good condition with a high gloss. Neck, fingerboard and frets are in excellent condition, with very little playing wear.
- Cosmetic flaws, all shown in the photos: small chip at the headstock tip, small finish chip at the neck heel, hairline crack in the finish next to the output jack, light corrosion on the output jack nut and on the spring-claw ground solder joint, general light wear consistent with age.
- Case: original Jackson moulded hardshell case, functional, with a small hole in the shell near a hinge and general wear (see photos).
To my knowledge all parts are original except the tremolo arm (replacement), but I cannot verify the guitar's history before 2004. The finish is believed to be original: the interior photos show the paint over the factory built label, and I see no sign of a refinish. Please judge the photos for yourself, and ask any questions before buying.

*** BESCHREIBUNG (DEUTSCH) ***
Datierung / Herkunft
- Seriennummer Halsplatte: 6535 (Adresse San Dimas).
- Hals: geschraubter Ahornhals, 22 Bünde, dunkles Griffbrett (vermutlich Ebenholz), Dot-Inlays, Jackson-Pointy-Kopfplatte mit Logo "Made in the U.S.A."
- Tonabnehmer: passiver Jackson-Singlecoil (Hals), Jackson-Humbucker (Steg)
- Regeler: Master-Volume, 5-Wege-Hebel-Pickup-Wahlschalter
- Tremolo: Jackson-Tremolo, Made in Germany by Schaller, lizensiert unter Floyd-Rose-Patenten; Klemmsattel; Tremolohebel (nicht-original, ausgetauscht) liegt bei
- Mechaniken: Jackson, schwarz
- Elektronikfach abgeschirmt, keine Batterie bzw. aktive Elektronik
- Gewicht: ca. 3,8–3,9 kg
Zustand
