While the J. Rockett Hot Rubber Monkey (HRM) V2 overdrive pedal dishes out all the dirt of its V1 predecessor, it also adds a significantly revamped tone and control scheme to better capture the feel and response of an overdriven D-style HRM-equipped amplifier. In fact, J. Rockett tells Sweetwater that the Hot Rubber Monkey V2’s new voice is the result of their year-long study of a true HRM-modified D-style amp — an experience that allowed them to precisely replicate every nuance and detail of the original’s throaty, vocal-like saturation. J. Rockett’s firsthand analysis of an original D-style model even inspired the complete replacement of the HRM V1’s EQ section, yielding a new configuration comprising a treble-shaping Top End knob and a Midrange control that allows you to tweak your tone from a harmonic-rich blooming overdrive to the original HRM’s iconic throaty rasp. Factor in the V2 version’s premium NOS parts, and it’s clear there’s no monkey business (rubber or otherwise) involved with the J. Rockett Hot Rubber Monkey (HRM) V2 overdrive
