Gibson Les Paul Special Solid Body Electric Guitar (2021), ser. #203710156, original brown tolex hard shell case.
Gibson Les Paul Special Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (2021), made in Nashville, TN, serial # 203710156, cherry lacquer finish, mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, original brown tolex hard shell case.
This recent "Vintage Cherry" Les Paul Special is an excellent and more-accurate-than-most modern iteration of the classic flat-topped, twin pickup design that has been a "go-to" solidbody for generations of players. The Special was originally introduced in 1955 as a double-pickup upgrade to the bare-bones Les Paul Junior, built on the same single-cutaway slab solid mahogany body but with more sonic versatility. The Special offers a much wider range of tones from its twin P-90 pickup layout but is most renowned for its roaring midrange punch through an overdriven amp.
This 2021 Special is a more accurate re-creation of the mid-50s models than many past attempts; is accurately replicates the comfortable vintage-style round-backed solid mahogany neck topped by a bound, dot inlaid rosewood fretboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets and a 12" radius. The twin vintage-styled P-90 pickups deliver a broad tonal range controlled by the standard wiring rig of volume and tone controls for each pickup selected by a 3-way toggle switch. This version of the Special marks a return to the '50s style wrap-around bridge/tailpiece for enhanced "classic" resonance and sustain compared to the later Tune-O-Matic many other versions used. This is a great looking and sounding guitar with a serious vintage vibe at a very reasonable price point, a "Special" truly worthy of that name.
Overall length is 39 1/4 in. (99.7 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 11/16 in. (4.3 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).
This guitar shows some light handling wear overall with general scuffing and a few small dings but no really serious wear. The nickle tailpiece shows the most plating wear. It is all original in the original heavy duty brown Tolex Gibson HSC with the hangtag, "Ready to Rock" as these have been since 1955. Overall Excellent Condition.
