Up for sale is a beautiful, all-original 1979 Gibson "The Paul". Stripped down and built for pure performance, these models feature a solid multi-piece American Walnut body and neck paired with a slick, dark ebony fretboard.
Based on the 8-digit serial number (71229519), this guitar was stamped on May 2, 1979 at the historic Kalamazoo, MI factory. It retains its iconic, highly sought-after factory Gibson T-Top humbuckers which deliver an incredibly raw, punchy, and articulate vintage tone.
Comes complete with its original Gen 1 Gibson "Chainsaw" hardshell case featuring the classic red plush interior.
Features:
• Year: 1979 (Serial: 71229519)
• Body/Neck Material: Solid American Walnut
• Fretboard: Ebony with mother-of-pearl dot inlays
• Pickups: Original exposed Gibson T-Top Humbuckers
• Hardware: Factory Grover Rotomatic tuners, Tune-o-matic bridge, and stopbar tailpiece
• Case: Vintage Gen 1 Gibson Protector "Chainsaw" Case
You can tell it's been played, which adds to the mojo. Laquer is fading from where it's been played, has its fair share of dings and scratches, but frets are suprisingly pretty great condition. Doesn't buzz and is straight. Wondered what the hype behind the T-tops were but they are well deserved, cleans up amazing and the sound has so much clarity no matter how much drive or distortion it has.
