The first solid body electric guitar marketed by Fender, back in 1950, was the Esquire. With its elegant single-cutaway shape, an adjustable bridge with three saddles, and a single pickup at the bridge, the Esquire paved the way for all solid body electric guitars, foreshadowing the arrival of its more famous sibling, the Telecaster.
Like the earliest Esquire models, the 70th Anniversary Esquire features a pine body, a lightweight wood known for its powerful and complex tone. Enhancing this already remarkable material is the "Roasted" treatment, which further improves resonance.
Other notable features include a nitrocellulose finish, a U-shaped neck profile, an Esquire pickup at the bridge designed by pickup guru Tim Shaw (inspired by the original Esquire displayed at the Songbirds Museum in Chattanooga, TN), a neck plate with a celebratory anniversary engraving, and a Tweed case.
This is a limited production run, exclusively for 2020.
